About USO San Jose SJC Logo

The San Jose Airport USO opened in 1992 during Desert Storm. We are currently operating with an all volunteer staff, seven days a week, from 0800 to 2000 hours. Our mission is to serve our military men and women and their families, on travel status through our Airport. We are the reporting place for troops moving through the airport and Fort Hunter Liggett (FHL) in Jolon, California. FHL serves members of the U.S. Army Reserves and National Guard who are reporting to schools operated by the 104th Training Division. Additionally, we provide support to students of the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School and the Defense Language School (DL), both located in Monterey, California.

Staffing

The USO is staffed 100% by volunteers. USO volunteers are vital to the success of the USO’s mission. While the duties of a volunteer may vary, the goal is always the same – to improve the quality of life of service members, to boost their morale and to serve as the link between service members and the American people. Volunteer support enables the continuation and expansion of USO programs and services for military personnel and their families worldwide. Travis Air Force Base

About Travis USO

The USO Center at Travis Air Force Base was established in 1984, and was the first USO program located on a military base.  The USO center at Travis provides a haven for families travelling with small children.  More than 12,000 people use the center annually, many of them part of families with at least one parent deployed.

The center offers a small kitchen, television and reading area, play areas inside and outside, a nursery with cribs and mats, a washer and dryer, a fax machine and Internet access.  The center also provides towels, bath soap and shampoo, and formula, food and diapers for the babies if needed.  The adult lounge is a quiet place to sit, drink coffee, watch TV and relax from the pressures of military travel.
